MP-8 Masterpiece Grimlock

Grimlock the lovable character

Rawr - means I love you.

Masterpiece Grimlock is the Autobot with an attitude - innocent, blurry, stubborn and most of all love-able. Both Takara and Hasbro releases their own Masterpiece Grimlock, between both companies, the noticeable difference of this figure is the sharp vs blunt teeth. If there's a choice, go for Takara which comes with more accessories but at a heftier price.

Transformation

This masterpiece is the easiest to transform figure. The total steps is only 8, yes, only 8 with MP-8 (ba-da-dush), this is compared with other masterpiece released this far (at this time of writing, it is already on release of MP-36). Make sure to not scratch those paints and chrome.

Just take extra precaution to not scratch the chrome paint.

Articulation
Robot mode: He's big and he has a big ball joint as the shoulder joint (again, unique from other masterpieces). He is well posed and has very sturdy legs thanks to the big feet. One annoying thing was the right fist, where the fingers are all molded as one with the fist, this is to make way for the light up electronic gimmick on the fist.

Grimlock never kneels to any bots.

Dinosaur mode: The puny hands movements are limited, just like a T-Rex. Other than that, he is articulated from head to tail.

Features

Red/Blue eyes - He comes with 2 different eye colors that be switch from a leveler in robot mode and turning the hidden eyes in dinosaur mode.

Blue eyes now, but ready to spit "FIRE"!

Show accurate equipments - Grimlock has been in some few weird series, from the dumbest to the smartest!

Light up hand - Only the right hand can lit up in robot mode, and with the translucent sword and gun, this feature lights up these equipment in glowing red color.

Dinosaur feature - The dinosaur mode comes with 2 unnecessary features implanted. Which are:- Auto-spinning neck-to-head by swinging the tail left-right; and the other is the "head bashing" feature by pressing the figure's body down with the legs' support.

Diecasts - After several releases since MP-01/MP-02 diecasts were rare in masterpiece and MP-08 is worth mentioning for diecast areas. There are several diecast areas which includes on the feet claws, shoulders and crouch.

All in All

He is really a unique masterpiece and fits well in robot mode. In dinosaur mode, he does look a bit smaller than the animated feature when compared to Optimus Prime. He's still a prize keeper for me.
