Sunstreaker

Another Lamborghini, but this time, a modified Lamborghini. I have less memories about him, only recognizes the looks and his famous name - Sunstreaker.

Impression

This figure maybe one that tops all the Masterpieces. It seems to have assimilated with all the learning from all those previous Masterpiece design.

One of the design copies, evidently, is the light pop ups similar to Masterpiece Optimus Primal. The mechanics are the same!

Nice touch on this, Takara.

This figure is also sturdy and it has very very few hollow parts, most importantly the torso looks just right. The backpack is similar to Masterpiece Hotrod.

No ugly side view.

Transformation

After Megatron, I would say this is the second toughest Transformer to transform. Even transformation between the two vehicles got me thinking for a while. But it's worth after the transformation, given the engineering put behind it.

Not very visible in the manual, but to transform the back of the car's tail, the hood is turn up/down. This will hide the chromed exhaust.

To transform from vehicle to robot, there are also a few tight edges.

There is a peg to support the fake window.

There are 2 connectors at the foot, again maybe it was explain in japanese, but
it is not very visible in the instruction.

To transform back from robot to vehicle, these are some of the highlights:

To fold/unfold the backpack, highlights are the movable parts.

Before bending the elbow when transforming to vehicle, push the elbow out.

Fist has to be facing forward.

His shoulder missiles should be positioned with a peg revealed.

Folding out the side window from the door can be a pain.
I find that, the side mirror is the cause of this.
Push the side mirror in tight and the window will be easily to pull out (do not remove the side mirror - like the picture).

Position the roof nicely, before twisting back the windshield.

At the very last transformation, there are pegs to hold the legs.

Features

It doesn't come with weird gimmicks like lights, sounds or even auto karate-chop. It's just satisfying with things it provides.

Again, the lights!

A new finger type and I love the thumbs done this way.

A dedicated peg to store the rifle.

And a dedicated storage for the pistol.

It can even transform into a "Normal" Lamborghini.

The air missile gimmick in the first episode.

The other accessories it comes with are:

Alien mask - In one episode he plays an alien.

3 different face expression - Like the other masterpieces, sunstreaker comes with 3 different expression.

Chip - with his wheelchair. Both chip and the wheelchair has no articulation, but both chip and the wheelchair are individual figures.

A pistol and a rifle - Both can be stored in robot mode. while in vehicle mode, the pistol can be stored, and the rifle is pegged on top of the roof.

All in All

Sunstreaker is the more expensive figure within the masterpiece "car" line, but with all the goodies it is packed, this figure is just awesome. Masterpiece line is definitely improving.
