MP-32 Masterpiece Optimus Primal/Convoy

Most Iconic Hero

Well, that's just prime!
Optimus Primal, one of my most lovable character due to his leadership and humor. This was also one of the Prime's that has a lip and not a faceplate. Notably, he was famously trolled with "TRUKK not MUNKY" phrase, however, the writers has made this character so different to Optimus Prime and so in-depth with personality, I would say, viewers just have to start loving him.

Two hand with blasters now.
Perfect beast mode from the front.
Least to say, this figure is perfect to the original Beastwars Optimal Primal CGI.

Transformation

The transformation of MP-32 is complicated, but it stays aesthetic to the original CGI transformation; spinning the waist, folding down the feet, flapping up the shoulders, rotating the heads and chest. Some winning notes compared to cheetor is that the pieces do fit nicely.

Here's some notes to take notice of:

To transform it back to beast mode, ensure that the pegs are fitted together at the knee angle.

To transform from beast to robot mode, force is need at the part to separate the back of the gorilla. There is a peg that holds the shoulders and the chest of this figure in beast mode. To seperate both, it requires some force. It'll be a diagonal outward direction pull, so, be mindful.

Twisting the heads, for switching between beast and robot is one of the awesome part for this transformation. However, be mindful of the gorilla's head. Make sure to snap the gorilla's head to the neck nicely, and position the head to face forward to avoid any scratches.

Revealing the trusters in robot mode skipped my heartbeat once. But given sheer force and twisting in the right direction, revealing this truster is fairly easy.

There is a nice hidden slit under the forearms. Using fingernails or a pen to poke this part and it'll reveals the arm blaster.
Same goes to the faceplate change. There is really a small gap at the side of the head. Just use something sharp to separate it's detach the robot's face.

Articulation

Robot mode: It's way better than the original with double joint knees, but the knee cap was a bit of a let down. Else wise, it's pretty sturdy and can articulate in any position the show can do.
The knee cap was the only issue.

Beast mode: It can't bend on the knee. Like cheetor, it can't sit down either. However, Takara has made their very best effort to make the gorilla crawl able/walking on all-fours. Compared to the original toy, this gorilla can stand now.

Looks awesome with the gift box.
I can stand on 2 legs now.

Features

Firstly, there is a light up eyes in robot mode. Best thing to a MISB(Mint in sealed box) collector is that the batteries doesn't come with it. Downside is that, you need to find those circular mercury batteries. I don't know the size though.

Blades - as like the original there are 2 swords.

Hand blasters - yeah both hands and no longer on the right arm only.

Face changing, 3 for beast and another 3 for the robot mode.

A hole on the left fore-arm.
There are hidden peg at the back of the figure; it wasn't specified in the instruction on what it is for, but some say, it's a peg to attach Generation Rattrap. The other hidden hole is at the left arm, the picture above shows it, and I had no idea what it is for.

All in All

Another amazing figure from Takara and I love it. If anyone is picking this one up, make sure you do some inspection on the "paint" of the figure; I had some not-so nice scratches on the right foot of the figure (no big deal).

Some defects, but it is not really visible.

Maximals, maximize!
